Creekside Resort: The Ultimate Kansas Road Trip Stop

·

When planning a Kansas road trip, finding the right place to stay can make all the difference. You want somewhere comfortable and convenient, but if you’re traveling by RV or looking for something a little different from a traditional hotel, having a place with plenty to do can make your trip even better.

During our time in Hays, Kansas, we stayed at Creek Side Resort, and we quickly discovered that it is much more than a place to park your RV or spend the night.

Located just 1.25 miles south of I-70’s Exit 157, Creek Side Resort offers RV sites, cabins, outdoor recreation, family-friendly amenities and some unexpected extras that make it a fun home base for exploring Hays and western Kansas.

RV-Friendly Accomodations

If you’re traveling by RV, location and convenience are everything—and Creek Side Resort checks both boxes.

The resort offers a variety of RV sites, including pull-through and back-in sites. Many of the sites have full hookups with water, electricity and sewer, and the sites accommodate both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service.

For travelers with larger rigs, the pull-through sites can make arriving and getting settled especially easy. There are also premium concrete pull-through sites with fire pits if you’re looking for a little more space and comfort.

There are even primitive sites for travelers who prefer a more traditional camping experience.

For a road trip through Kansas, having options like these makes Creek Side Resort an easy choice.

Cozy Cabins

Don’t have an RV? No problem.

One of our favorite things about Creek Side Resort is that you don’t have to be an RV traveler to enjoy the property. The resort has several cabin options, including lofted cabins and single-story cabins with queen or king beds. Some cabins even have private hot tubs.

The cabins provide many of the comforts you’d expect from a hotel while giving you a more private and unique experience.

Depending on the cabin, amenities can include a full bathroom, partial kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, Keurig, television and electric fireplace.

The lofted cabins are particularly fun if you’re looking for something a little different, while the single-story cabins offer a more traditional setup.

So whether you’re pulling in with an RV or arriving in a regular vehicle, Creek Side Resort has an accommodation option for you.

Just Minutes Away From Hays

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Creek Side Resort is that you don’t have to choose between staying somewhere fun and being close to everything you want to see.

The resort sits on the outskirts of Hays, giving you a quieter place to stay while keeping you within easy driving distance of the city’s restaurants, attractions, shopping and historic sites.

That makes it a great home base for a Hays weekend getaway.

Spend the day exploring Hays and then come back to Creek Side Resort in the evening to relax around the property.

It’s the best of both worlds.

Super Conveient to I-70

f you’re taking a Kansas road trip, this might be one of the biggest reasons to choose Creek Side Resort.

The resort is located just 1.25 miles south of I-70 Exit 157, making it incredibly easy to find and access.

You don’t have to drive miles out of your way just to get to your campground.

That convenience is especially nice if you’re traveling across Kansas and need a place to stop for the night—but it’s just as useful if you’re using Hays as a base for a longer western Kansas adventure.

Pull off the interstate, drive a short distance and you’re there.

The Creekside Cornerstone

You know those little things you forget when you’re traveling?

Maybe you need an extra RV supply. Or you forgot something for the grill. And you never thought about the propane.

That’s where the Creek Side Cornerstore comes in handy.

The resort’s onsite store carries a variety of RV supplies, camping accessories, BBQ items, electrical supplies and other essentials. There’s also a propane refill station.

We love having conveniences like this on-site. They can save you a trip into town when you realize you’ve forgotten something.

And, of course, there are also souvenirs and novelty items if you’re looking for a little something to take home.

There’s Something for the Kids

Creek Side Resort isn’t just designed for adults who want a convenient place to park an RV.

Families have plenty of reasons to get outside and enjoy the property.

There’s a playground for kids, along with a duck pond, creek, community fire pits and plenty of outdoor space.

The fishing pond is another feature that gives the resort a little more personality than your typical overnight campground.

For families traveling across Kansas, those little extras can make a big difference—especially when everyone needs a break from being in the car.

Instead of simply checking in and going straight inside, kids have room to stretch their legs and enjoy the outdoors.

It’s Pet Friendly

For many travelers, a vacation isn’t a vacation unless the whole family gets to come along—including the four-legged members.

Creek Side Resort is pet-friendly and has a designated dog park where pets can get some exercise and stretch their legs.

That’s particularly convenient for RV travelers who are often traveling with their dogs.

After spending hours on the road, having somewhere onsite where your dog can get out and move around is a definite bonus.

You Can Watch a Movie Under the Stars

Now for one of the most unique things about Creek Side Resort: Flicks at the Crick.

The resort has its own outdoor movie theater, giving guests the opportunity to watch a movie under the Kansas sky. During the in-season months, movies are scheduled on select Friday and Saturday nights, with a snack shack serving movie-night treats.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket, grab some popcorn and settle in for a movie.

It’s the kind of experience that turns an ordinary campground stay into part of the vacation itself.

And for families, it’s a pretty fun way to end a day of exploring Hays.

It’s the Little Things That Make it Extra Special

One of the things we noticed during our stay was that Creek Side Resort has a lot of those little touches that make a place memorable.

There’s the pond, the ducks, the outdoor spaces, community fire pits and even giant live tortoises. The clubhouse also provides access to amenities such as showers, laundry facilities and free coffee.

And then there was one of our favorite unexpected discoveries: local beef available in the check-in house.

As travelers who love finding local food and supporting small businesses, that was such a fun surprise.

Instead of feeling like you’re checking into a generic campground, there are little pieces of the local area woven into the experience.

Those are the kinds of details we remember long after a trip is over.

It’s More Than Just a Place to Spend the Night

At the end of the day, this might be the biggest reason we enjoyed Creek Side Resort.

It’s easy to think of an RV park as simply a place to stop, sleep and get back on the road the next morning.

Creek Side Resort gives you reasons to stay a little longer.

You can spend the evening around a fire pit, let the kids play, take your dog to the dog park, enjoy the pond, grab something from the store or watch a movie at Flicks at the Crick.

And if you’re staying in one of the cabins, you have a comfortable place to relax after spending the day exploring Hays.

That’s what makes Creek Side Resort stand out. It’s not just convenient—it gives you an experience.

Final Thoughts: Is Creekside Resort Worth the Stay?

For us, yes.

If you’re traveling through Kansas, visiting Hays or looking for a convenient stop along I-70, Creek Side Resort offers a combination of location, accommodations and amenities that make it worth considering.

RV travelers have plenty of site options, while travelers without an RV can choose from several cabin styles. Families have a playground and outdoor spaces, pet owners have a dog park, and everyone can take advantage of amenities like the corner store, laundry, showers and outdoor movie theater.

And perhaps our favorite part is that Creek Side Resort gives you a reason to slow down.

Instead of simply making Hays a stop between destinations, make it part of the adventure.
